Transfering a domain so that you can utilise our CMS is a relatively straightforward, although sometime confusing proceedure.
If you want us to take care of invoicing you whenever your domain comes up for renewal we are happy to do this.
For UK domains we will give you what's called an IPS tag that you need to give to your current host or registrar. They will change your current IPS to ours and we then have control of the domain
For other domains transfer is somewhat more involved and requires that your current host or registrar unlocks the domain. We then request the transfer of your domain, which must be approved by the administrative contact for the domain. Once approved the domain is transferred. This can take 7 - 10 days to complete.
If you do not wish us to re-register your domains when they come up for renewal (perhaps you've got an account with UKReg or 123-reg ?) then the easiest thing is for you to change what are called the nameservers on your domain. Nameservers are the address book of the internet that are consulted whenever you type a web address into a browser. You usually have a primary and secondary nameserver per domain name. We will provide our nameserver details to you when your site is ready to go live in order, or we are happy to login to your account and change them for you.
As a rule we prefer to change the dns nameservers of an existing domain as we find this to be much quicker.
